What Caldendrium writes to your calendar and photo library

Caldendrium saves your records as regular calendar events in the destination calendar you choose. You can also pick a calendar you share with family and use it together. You can open the events in a calendar app and read them directly. You can make changes too, but if you alter the structured parts Caldendrium writes — the title format, or the lines and events below — how Caldendrium reads and displays your records may change.

Lines starting with ”_” (an underscore) in event notes. These are Caldendrium’s bookkeeping lines — they link photos to the record, among other things. Please leave them as they are.

Events with titles starting with “[config:”. These sit on January 1, 1970 and store your settings — the genus, type, tag, action, and note field lists you registered, plus your reminder settings. Deleting them loses those settings (your records are not affected). Please leave them in place.

Photos albums. If album creation is turned on in Settings, Caldendrium creates a folder in the Photos app named after your calendar, with a folder per genus and an album per plant inside. Deleting or rearranging these albums never deletes your photos or your records — the link between records and photos lives in the calendar. Caldendrium does not follow such changes, but it may recreate the albums as you keep recording.

Troubleshooting

Calendar access. Caldendrium needs full access to your calendar, because that is where your records are saved. While access is off, the app shows a “Calendar access required” screen with an Open Settings button. Tap it, tap Calendars, choose Full Access, then return to Caldendrium.

Reinstalling. Your records live in your own Apple Calendar and photo library, so deleting Caldendrium and installing it again leaves them in place. You can try it without losing your records.

Kept after reinstalling (these live in your calendar):

• Your records — activities, photos, and notes — and the reminders you set
• Your genus, type, tag, and action lists

Set up again after reinstalling (these are settings kept on the device):

• Your destination calendar. Caldendrium looks for your records and shows you which calendars already contain them, so pick the one you were using before. If you end up with an empty collection, open Settings > Destination calendar and switch — your records are still there.
• Whether notifications are on, how plant names are shown, and whether Photos albums are created

Also, right after reinstalling:

• iOS may ask for calendar or photo access again.
• If reminder notifications don’t arrive, open a reminder, change something, and save it — they will start arriving again.
